CONTEXT
Florence offers the best opportunities to acquire and enhance skills and knowledge for the protection of cultural heritage.
For 50 years our Institute has offered programs in art and restoration through vocational programs and summer courses.
At the same time, we offer programs that allow American students to deepen their skills in the field of art, conservation and restoration through programs that meet US academic standards with 15-week semesters for a maximum of 30 ECTS credits/20 US credits.
SCHEDULE
Spring Semester from February 01st 2027 to May 14th 2027.
The course will be held from Monday to Friday, every morning from 09.00 to 13.00 at the restoration labs at Via delle Casine, 21/rosso and Via Maggio,13 in Florence.
ADMISSIONS
The course is open to all American students currently enrolled at American Colleges.
PROGRAM
Course Program
- Brief historical introduction on the fresco technique
- Preparation of the mortar, colors for the fresco, transfer of the design, application of the layers
- Exercises for managing the color in glazes.
- Preparation of the tonal intonachino for the creation of a decorative theme with the Sgraffito technique.
- Introduction to conservation and restoration challenges and techniques.
